10 School and Health Center Buildings in West Jakarta Have Implemented PLTS

The West Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration and Energy Sub-agency (Nakertransgi) noted that as many as 10 school buildings and health centers in West Jakarta have implemented solar power plants (PLTS).

From 10 schools, some are SMPN 88 Jakarta, SMPN 190 Jakarta, SMPN 201 Jakarta, and SMPN 224 Jakarta

Energy Division Head, Angga Septian expressed the PLTS application to government-owned buildings had been going on since 2019. It had been halted in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic and then resumed in 2022 and 2023.

"From 10 schools, some are SMPN 88 Jakarta, SMPN 190 Jakarta, SMPN 201 Jakarta, and SMPN 224 Jakarta. There are also Kembangan Sub-district and three elementary schools in Cengkareng Sub-district," he said, Wednesday (3/8).

PLTS Provides Ease for Sebira Island Residents

For a similar program in 2023, his party had monitored five government-owned school buildings for the implementation of PLTS.

He explained one of the requirements for a building to apply PLTS is that the characteristics of the building must not be between two taller buildings, thus sunlight can hit the building and be absorbed by the solar panels. In addition, the roof of the building was required to face north to match the equator.

"Schools are the right means to teach children and residents about the benefits of using PLTS," he stated.
